Indoor Drone Film Case Study – Heritage Lab, Ramsgate
Read about our latest project involving filming indoors in some very confined spaces, watch some behind the scenes footage and see the end result below!
Project Background
Heritage Lab was established to unlock the social and economic potential of the 450 listed historic buildings and community assets in Ramsgate.
“We want to help to regenerate our town. We believe that Ramsgate’s unique and rich heritage provides the key to unlocking regeneration. We will revitalize historic buildings and community assets to create work and community space, employment and enhance pride in our town.”
Heritage Lab’s latest project is to save ‘Pugin’s Chambers’ at The Granville Hotel in Ramsgate.
Heritage Lab has a legal agreement with the owner to buy the 999-year leasehold to the seafront Granville Bars. It has a year in which to raise the £485,000 needed to complete the deal and kick start their plans to transform it into a thriving creative hub and world class events space.
“We want to unleash creative potential by restoring Ramsgate’s heritage buildings,” said Rob Kenyon, CEO and founder of Heritage Lab CIC.
Shoot Brief
Heritage Lab contacted us to capture video footage of the incredible spaces inside ,as well as some exterior shots of the impressive building and the surrounding town and beach. The footage is to be used to promote the project and generate interest among local creatives and residents to support the project in a variety of ways.
Inside the building, the spaces Heritage Lab asked us to focus on were the ground floor ballroom and the collection of interlinked rooms on the lower ground floor.
We carried out a test shoot the week before to scope out the various spaces and plan and test some shots, in preparation for returning to complete the shoot both indoors and outside the building. Below are some ‘behind the scenes’ images of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro which we used for the indoor shots due to its compact size. For the exterior shots in the End Film, we used the DJI Inspire 2.

End Film
The End Film was shot within 3 hours, using the DJI Mavic 2 Pro for the interior shots and the DJI Inspire 2 for the exterior shots.
